The Goddess of Mercy, or commonly known as ‘Guan Yin’ is the bodhisattva of compassion as venerated by East Asian Buddhists, usually as a female. She is also known as the Chinese Bodhisattva of Compassion.
The name Guanyin, also spelt Kuan Yin, is short for Kuan-shih Yin (Read: Guānshì Yīn, 觀世音) which means “Observing the Sounds (or Cries) of the World”.
can’t wait for Chiness New Year,in my country , for some cities, starting 1n 1998 the celebration will be great and has lots of beautiful color. I’ll take lots of great pictures there
Those are gorgeous. I’m more of a maneki-neko (good luck cat) sort of person, but she’s good too. Though it might be bad luck to have both in the same house at the same time — one being Japanese and the other Chinese.

30|Jan|2008 5These Goddess of Mercy haven’t been blessed yet, usually Chinese don’t buy them as ornaments.

30|Jan|2008 6We also have similar religious statues in the Roman Catholic religion. They are blessed and put in a special place called altar at home.
