Christmas Island a la Malaysia
October 25th 2007 by pelfy in My EscapeToday’s three-hour lecture for Online Journalism and two-hour lecture for Broadcast Journalism killed me kaw-kaw left me unconscious for a while *sigh* It was not the strength and weaknesses of different news media or some pan left, pan right; zoom in, zoom out camera positions that made me dizzy-billy-molly-polly, but the fact that I *ahem*.. I better not comment anything because I still have a semester to go before I can graduate. *sigh*
And since I am a little unfit to type a proper post, I might as well dig out some precious pictures I took during my holidays for your reference. Wuahaa!! Now, do you remember this: “3 weeks break for 3 different destinations“?
Ha! None of my commentators got it right, so I’m doing everyone a favour by introducing my second holiday destination, deng-deng-deng-deng *drumroll* Pulau Ketam (Crab Island, not Christmas Island)
Pulau Ketam is one of the popular fishing villages in Malaysia. It is approximately, err..I don’t know how far it is from the Peninsular Malaysia, but the journey to the island is about 30 minutes, by ferry (= There is only ONE way to get to the island, that is to board a ferry at the Port Klang jetty.

Some sampans for you to see while waiting for the ferry (=
Before visiting the island, I expected it to be like Pangkor Island, at least it has a few rows of mini mart, cars as well as other places of interest, but NO! They have mini marts, but not as many as I expected. No cars (or any engine-operated vehicles) were seen in the island which explains the c.l.e.a.n environment *breathe in, breathe out*

At the Pulau Ketam jetty
All right. All right. Next. I am sorry I will not be highlighting the glorious seafood lunch (crabs, prawns, fishballs, vegetables and lala) I had at one of the seafood restaurants because I found it unfair for me to make judgments as to which restaurant serves more delicious food simply because I have not tasted the rest. How could I compare when I’ve only tasted one? But whatever it is, I think all of the restaurants serve yummy-finger-licking-good food (=
Now you ask: Pulau Ketam is such a small island. What do they have in there? Look carefully. They have:

The fire brigade.

A Chinese temple

The same Chinese temple, just a different angle.

Chinese Chess Club

Information Technology Community Centre (wahpiang. direct translation man!!)

A Christian organisation

Islamic Community Hall

Clinic

Mini post office
And lastly…..

A police station
*woot*
Therefore, Pulau Ketam is definitely a safe and fun place to visit (well, that’s my point of view la). No worries, OK? Should you need a tour guide (that’s me), please do not feel shy to contact me, yea? Wuakakaka!! No, no.. that’s not an advertisement.
Ha! I was just kidding (ouh.. of cour$e there are $ome exception$. You know what I mean?)

Jie: Wuakka… We share-share la (=
Chen: Yeaps. Pulau Ketam is not a big island and yes, every place is within walking distance. I would recommend it if you’re a seafood-lover and loves taking photographs too (=
Yen: Thank you for your opinion. I understand that you have a short pair of legs, that’s why walking makes you die. Wuakakaka!!!
