From six to two
October 18th 2007 by pelfy in Life Of A Journalist-To-BeIt was a little weird when I was about to write this post - considering the fact that it was like ages ago when I was attending my Year Three (Semester 1) in Uni.
But then again, if I did not tell you how many subjects I took last semester, you would not know how I feel this semester.
And guess you should know it by now. Just in case for those who do not know, last semester, I took six cells-killing subjects - Media Planning, Media Ethics, Newspaper Management, Culture & Communications, Electronic Commerce and Creative Strategy For Advertising.

Books that kill.
The 14 weeks of lectures were brain-damaging. For example, in Media Planning, my groupmates and I had to come out with the budget allocations for buying space for TAG Heuer advertisements may it be in the magazines, newspapers, internet, radio, tv or billboard. But before that, we first had to identify our target audience - and that gave us a big head each.
Lots of headache and complaints actually, especially about the 60% thingy (Yen, you should know this!), but I am not going to further elaborate here as there is no use arguing the ‘past’. Right?
Anyway, that entire semester had definitely taught me a few lessons and I am glad that I survived and still able to type a post here. Wuakaa!
Now, back to this short semester. This time, I’ll only be taking 2 subjects - Online Journalism and Broadcast Journalism. No! Don’t cheer for me please. The number of subjects might make some happy, but remember.. it’s only 7 weeks and you’ll need to learn ways to operate the machines and the *ouhhhh* HyperText Markup Language (HTML)
Anyways, I hope this semester will bring lots of fun, especially attending community meetings and getting to the courts.

Many memories on last semester, all are negative. Opps, my mistake! It is extremely negative!
Double late submissions of Media Planning assignments from my group (caused by many factors). . Two attendants only from our class for Media Ethics lecture on the submission date of MP assignment. All are NEW records. It should be considered lucky as I able to survive from poor presentation, poor coursework marks, and poor examination performance for MP.
Dreamweaver comes back again. But no longer ‘Zul’ nightmare. However, honestly, Mr ‘Just One’ and Pn Zam Zam are not my favourite tutors. Mr Just One is likely a replica of Mr Jaguar(Jega). Pn Zam Zam, spending 90% of time starring at slides, 10% on us. My top rated tutors are Dr Carmen and Tan Huey Peng. I am disappointed they were not assigned for either OJR or BJR.
Let’s hope the future is kind to us.
